New Practitioners Research Scholarship

MSHP is offering four awards in the amount of $500 each. Applications will be accepted through November 16, 2026. All MSHP members are encouraged to apply.

All projects, research, or institutional pharmacy initiative projects will be considered. Research does not have to be complete, and may be submitted as in progress. Projects can include medication use evaluations and clinical research, among others. Projects submitted should support one or more of the goals of PAI. 

Terms and Conditions

These funds are intended to defray the cost of conducting and presenting your project or research. This award money can be used to, but is not limited to, offset travel cost to a National Meeting (including ASHP Midyear) to present the research finding, hiring personnel for data analysis, development of a poster for presentation, or materials needed to conduct research (including computer software, etc.) The funds cannot be used for overhead costs. 

Eligibility Criteria

Practitioners:
The primary investigator must be an active member of MSHP in good standing.

Students:
The student must be a member of MSHP, should be enrolled at a school/college of pharmacy in the state of Maryland and in good academic standing.

A research panel made up of selected MSHP members will evaluate applications that meet the criteria and will select a winner based on merit. The breakdown of points for the individual components of the application are available here.

Application Requirements

1. Complete the application form (below). 
2. Practitioners: Include a letter of support for the proposed project from the Department Chair or Director of Pharmacy, or an appropriate alternative administrator.
3. Students: Include a letter of support for the proposed project from a research mentor or co-investigator (e.g. a faculty member, clinical pharmacist, director of pharmacy, etc.)
4. Failure to comply with application requirements will result in withdraw of the application for the grant.
