How do I join MSHP?

Do I have to be a pharmacist to join MSHP?

No. MSHP is comprised of not only licensed pharmacists, but also pharmacy students, technicians and associate members. Associate members may be individuals who work as hospital pharmacy inspectors, instructors, instructors of prospective hospital pharmacists, or anyone else who contributes to hospital pharmacy. Visit “Membership Info” on the Society website for information on specific fees.

If I do decide to become a member of MSHP, what types of benefits will I experience?
Educational benefits – MSHP regularly schedules educational opportunities including timely continuing education programs, Fall and Spring Seminars, and members-only events

Professional networking – Membership in MSHP offers an excellent opportunity to network with peers throughout Maryland, discuss topics of mutual interest and compare your services to those of your colleagues. The membership of MSHP provides a wealth of contacts whether you are searching for a new position or trying to hire new employees. Don’t overlook the social factor; groups of people with common interests are always a source of new friends.

Professional Development/Leadership Opportunities – Become more involved with promoting the profession of pharmacy both within the state of Maryland and nationally by joining an MSHP committee. Serve as a committee chair and inspire others to contribute to our profession along with you!

Ongoing Communication – Weekly e-blasts along with a bi-monthly newsletter (Pharmascript) are distributed to MSHP members via email and are meant to keep all members informed of events, CE opportunities and is a venue to share research articles.

Recognition – The MSHP Awards Program is designed to recognize outstanding professional achievement. Awards given include: Pharmacist of the Year, Pharmacy Technician of the Year, Industry Representative of the Year, Medication Safety, Jeffery Ensor Emerging Leader, and the W. Arthur Purdum Awards are presented. Nominations for these awards can be submitted by any MSHP member.
