It is the responsibility of this committee to monitor and respond, if necessary, to proposed legislation and regulations that may influence the practice of pharmacy or the quality of patient care. Most commonly, issues proposed at the state level will be reviewed, but occasionally consideration of topics of national scope may be required.
General Timeline:
November – December: Determine legislation likely to be submitted
January: Start of session
February: Legislative day
March: End of session, 90 days from start
The responsibilities of the committee will include:
- Identify and review information on relevant legislation proposed by the State Assembly and subsequently proposed by Maryland regulatory bodies.
- Network with colleagues in Maryland to coordinate the profession’s response.
- Organize MSHP’s grassroots response.
