Emergency Preparedness

Emergency response preparedness planning is a JCAHO requirement for all hospital facilities. Emergency response includes any emergency event and/or disasters (encompassing natural disasters and weapons of mass destruction- WMD). Hospital Pharmacists play a crucial role in managing the pharmaceutical supply in such events. Pharmacists will assist in plan development, procurement, storage, and delivery of pharmaceuticals, and possibly be responsible for patient screening and administration of pharmaceuticals.
